According to preliminary data analysed by research firm Gartner, sales fell by 12.6 percent year-on-year to 72.01m units. Gartner puts the decline down to three main causes: the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the cost of living crisis caused by inflation and steep downturn in demand for Chromebooks. Apple was the only major vendor to see growth, with sales up 9.3 percent to 6.36m units, driven by the popularity of Apple’s new homegrown chips....

A filing in the Japanese government’s official gazette shows sales were up over 70 percent from the previous year to 204bn yen (US$1.6bn), while operating profit was at 59 billion yen (US$460m) and net profit rose 123 percent to 41bn yen (US$320m). Of course, that’s down to some huge game releases over the fiscal year, including Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokémon Unite and New Pokémon Snap....

Digimon Survive - which “blends visual novel storytelling with tactical battle elements” - has been a long time coming, having been formally delayed three times to “allocate more time to development” and “enhance the quality of the game”. Featuring over 100 Digimon, this latest game in the Digimon series features a world map that is divided into areas and locations which you will need to scan in order to find “glitches” for clues and items....

That date has been pushed back a couple of times now, but today was made “absolutely” final after a couple of last-minute bogies were identified. Toy Soldiers HD polishes up the original game’s visuals, includes all of its DLC additions and adds a couple of new levels too. “The new date is based on an issue of leaderboards displaying incorrectly, amongst some minor items we wanted to address,” developer Signal Studios wrote, “so instead of staggering our release, we decided it was best to hold all versions until we could release them on the same day....

Ajax & Diomedes, as its name very much implies, enlivens Troy’s core strategy action by introducing the two titular Iliad heroes, alongside new campaign mechanics, new era-inspired warriors, veteran Paragon units, and more. Ajax the Great, described as the “shield that protects the Achaean Host”, is supported by slow but heavily equipped defensive infantry units and powerful missile units, while Diomedes - the King of Argos - specialises in “crushing attacks with well-rounded axe and sword infantry, combined with quick flanking units from surprising locations....

Set to star Will Arnett, Anthony Mackie, and Samoa Joe, the crew working on the live-action television series adapting destruction racer Twisted Metal had a wrap party over the weekend. “That’s a wrap on season one!” tweeted showrunner Michael Jonathan, who also wrote the fan-favourite Netflix show, Cobra Kai (via VGC). “The cast and crew of Twisted Metal was something special,” he added in a subsequent tweet. Even with lightning delays, extreme heat, and cars that wouldn’t do as they’re told, everyone worked as hard as they could to make sure Twisted Metal kicked as much as possible....

At present, that split is 50/50 between Twitch and streamers, unlike key competition like YouTube that favours streamers with a 70/30 split. In a new blog post announcing the return of Twitch integration to Xbox after a five year absence, Microsoft calls the feature - which is accessible directly via the Xbox guide, with the Twitch app no longer required - “re-engineered, and better than ever”. Those eager to get set up will first need to navigate to the “Capture and Share” tab on their console’s guide and select the “Live streaming” option....

Valhalla, which was previously described as having the “biggest launch for any Assassin’s Creed game to date”, has reached that milestone in under 12 months (its one year anniversary arrives on 10th November), with Ubisoft saying the title has been “outperforming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey across the board since its release. In particular, it highlights “higher” daily average revenue per user and “record engagement” for its Siege of Paris expansion. The publisher also touches on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s recently announced second year of content in its earnings report, saying it plans to “deliver great new content… notably in the second half of the current fiscal year....

You don’t expect a delicate handling of inspirations or considerate presentation from such a setting: you expect clashing cogs and excessive crenelations and hint windows that read like catechisms. You expect things to wallow like a Dreadnought knee-deep in Plaguebearer offal. But save for that slight (and to be fair, genre-typical) over-reliance on grinding to help the plot over the next hilltop, Daemonhunters positively glides. At a glance the interface looks like a Borg sneezed all over a cathedral, but in practice this is both a fine balance of ideas from XCOM and Gears Tactics, and a crisp boiling-down of a gargantuan fiction that somehow renders everything digestible, even snappy, without sacrificing the source material’s morbid intricacy....

As highlighted by u/AHappyPandaBear - and upvoted hundreds of times - players point out that although Apex Legends and PUBG Battlegrounds permit players to return mid-game following crashes or internet issues, Warzone does not, making it “a massive L” for the community. The issue is particularly troublesome for DMZ players, who say they are losing “so much” loot and contraband without the chance to rejoin the session. “Not allowing players to join back mid-game is a massive L for both Warzone and DMZ,” the poster complained....
