With tonight’s announcements out the way, two more characters are still to come to Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of its second Fighter Pass. There was no new information on any of those today.

It’s with great excitement, then, that I introduce today’s Eurogamer Podcast guests [series since renamed One-to-one]. They are the two people who founded Inkle just over 10 years ago. The two people who once met working on a curious game at Sony about the cycle of a person’s life - a game that would ultimately never be made. But they became friends, dreaming together about what kind of games they would make, and then one day, dreams became reality and Inkle was born....
Jodie Turner-Smith, who starred in Queen & Slim and Nightflyers, plays Éile, “a fierce warrior with the voice of a goddess”. The six-part live action limited series is a prequel story set 1200 years before Geralt and the events we’re familiar with from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, CD Projekt’s games and the Henry Cavill Netflix show. It tells the story of the first Witcher prototype and the Conjunction of the Spheres....
That’s according to series creator and showrunner Lauren Hissrich. Talking to EW, Hissrich reflected on Cavill’s time on the show, saying the team wanted to “honour that appropriately”. According to Hissrich, season three of The Witcher has taken inspiration from author Andrzej Sapkowski’s fourth book, Time of Contempt. “What is so interesting is that season three, to me, is the closest thing that we’ve done as a one-to-one adaptation of the books,” Hissrich revealed....
The Prince Vorkken DLC is out now on Steam for 80p, and on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch priced 75p. This DLC lets you change the main player character to Prince Vorkken Ohgee, heir to the throne of the comet Rhullo and leader of the Guyzoch Space Pirates. As Prince Vorkken, the Multi-Unite ability is replaced with Enemy-Unite, which summons a host of Unify Monster alien beasts. The Prince Vorkken also works with the Time Attack DLC, so you can try using Prince Vorkken’s Enemy Unite to nail a faster time....
Before we get too carried away, though, some of these game bundles are a lot more enticing than others. Generally, you can expect to save a minimum of £5, but some of the pairs represent considerably better deals. For example, you can get Mortal Kombat 11 and The Division 2 on PS4 or Xbox One for £39.99. In the past, Mortal Kombat has been down to £25 and The Division 2 has dropped just under £20 so it’s not a bad offer for the pair....
Just like Luke’s other R.E.A.L. VR mods there are no motion controls here, only head tracking. This means you will need a controller to play the game but after trying out the mod for myself, I can safely say that this doesn’t detract from the magnificence of the experience at all. Driving through the middle of the busy, neon lit Night City at night time is a sight to behold and the huge amount of world detail means that the immersion stays high, even without the option to physically reach out and touch things....
There are a lot of examples of this kind of shouty-but-opaque approach to things in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. One of them is the game’s main collectible, Lucky Dice, which are nice, shiny gold D20s dotted around the world like the good old relics of a 3D platformer. When you find one and interact with it it rolls, popping out some loot and a number between 1 and 20 that determines something called your Loot Score....
It’s a game about racing on a tray, obviously. The online racer will support up to 16 players and is set for release on PC and Switch in 2023. It’s set in a post-apocalypse where players will race over randomly-generated sand dunes filled with hazards, creatures, and “surprises from a mix of bizarre and beautiful biomes”, all while showing off tricks and combos. Between races players can hang out with friends around the firepit at the Camp, host a musical jam session, and customise their racer....
“We never split just because the studio shut down here in the US,” studio founder Julian Eggebrecht tells me from his Marin County base. “[The studio in Cologne] stayed open in many ways, and we just pivoted from game making to video-on-demand services. While the company was going through the bankruptcy, I got in contact with Netflix, and we got a lot of the early clients for all of the streaming tech back in 2009 - and then pretty much all of those streaming apps that you’ve been using on consoles and lots of other platforms as well....
Originally, the Sands of Time remake - which is being developed by Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai - was due to launch this January, but Ubisoft made the decision to postpone its release to March at the end of last year. When February arrived, however, the publisher announced it would be delaying the game once more, this time indefinitely, while it worked on delivering “a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original”....
Soon after James Hetfield and co started rocking out, the lever pullers at Twitch replaced the band’s music with a plinky tune in an apparent bid to avoid potential takedowns. This occurred on the Twitch Gaming channel, but it did not occur on other Twitch channels, such as Blizzard’s own, and it did not occur on the live stream on Blizzard’s YouTube channels (I was watching at the time). It seems Twitch did not obtain the music performance rights Blizzard obtained for its channels, and so felt it prudent to replace Metallica on its official Twitch Gaming channel, which it bubbled up to Twitch’s front page....
Ubisoft initially discussed the subject of buyouts back in February, following a round of acquisitions that saw Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard, Sony buying Bungie, and Take-Two buying Zynga. Since then, however, a report from Bloomberg claimed Ubisoft had attracted preliminary interest from a number of private equity firms, although it was said the publisher had yet to enter into “serious negotiations” regarding such a deal. In light of those reports, Ubisoft has once again addressed the subject of acquisitions, albeit in very much the same terms it did back in February....
Writing in a post to mark Valheim’s first birthday - and a phenomenal 12 months for the game - Iron Gate said it “would of course like to have Valheim running smoothly on [Steam Deck] from the start, so that’s something we’re working on at the moment.” “Wouldn’t it be great to be able to bring Valheim with you on the train,” the studio added, “or maybe even out into the woods?...
The two events fixed in this update are “you are being hunted” and “the horde is attacking”, which were previously in the game files but didn’t trigger as expected. According to the Valheim wiki, the hunt event is supposed to spawn a bunch of wolves, while the horde event should summon a goblin army of Fulings (including Berserkers and Shamans). The exact conditions for triggering these events are currently unknown, but the pattern established by previous events suggests the hunt event could require killing one wolf and Moder, while the horde raid should occur in-between killing Moder and the final boss....
The game’s existance was acknowledged by Valve boss Gabe Newell during an interview in 2012, although the project had already been canned by that point. “We’re not doing it any more,” Newell said at the time. “We had an internal project called Stars of Blood, which was a space pirate game, and that never saw the light of day.” The concept art, below, was uncovered over the weekend by Obscure Game Aesthetics, apparently lying undiscovered on Valvearchive....
Details of when Steam’s next autumn, winter and spring sales will begin have been detailed - and yes, that spring sale date replaces the previous Lunar New Year celebration. Steam’s Autumn Sale is first up, and will run from 22nd to 29th November. Following that, Valve will hold its annual Winter Sale on 22nd December to 5th January. And in 2023, the store’s newly-titled Spring Sale will be held from 16th to 23rd March....
Yoku’s Island Express, which will be available to download from 1st-31st May is a strange but successful blend of platforming and pinball that Eurogamer’s Christian Donlan liked a lot when it released back in 2018, calling it a “wild-spirited adventure to cherish.” Next up, and available to download from 16th May to 15th June, is The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk. This one, developed by Studio Fizbin (responsible for last year’s striking Minute of Islands), is a follow-up to acclaimed 2013 point-and-click adventure The Inner World, and once again follows young, flute-nosed adventurer Robert on a quest to save the world....
Some players will already be familiar with the formula. Darktide is a spiritual follow-up to Vermintide and Vermintide 2, developer Fatshark’s previous two games set in 40k’s old-timey parallel (or same-but-much-earlier?) universe of fantasy Warhammer. Instead of hordes of rat people, you’re now mowing down waves of zombified plague-people, corrupted or otherwise made gross by the plague god Nurgle. Much of it really is the same: you play as a given class of your choice with three others, either bots or humans, and you fight off waves while completing fairly simple objectives....
