Redout 2, which was originally expected to launch on 26th May, builds on the superb racing action of its 2016 predecessor with a whole new set of tracks (36 in total, plus mirror variants of each) alongside expanded customisation options - with players now able to start with one of 12 distinct chassis and strap on the likes of new rocket engines, propulsors, stabilsers, rudders, magnets, intercoolers, flaps, wings, and spoilers....

Yesterday, Respawn tweeted to players that it has added a new in-game message to “help cut down on crashes [caused] by animated poses”, adding players should “tell [their] friends” and spread the word until a fix rolls out next week. “There’s currently an issue with animated epic poses which can cause crashes,” the message explains (thanks, TheGamer). “We advise you to unequip these epic poses while our team works on a fix....

As well as able to customise their load-outs - which we explain in further detail in our Arms unlockables guide - you can also change the colour scheme of each Arms character. Each has four options available, and can be selected in any mode from the outset - though the game isn’t explicit in telling you how. The character colour will then change, allowing you to see your selection before accepting and entering the game mode....

Ubisoft is yet to detail the expansion, but it has teased a second year of post-launch content and shown an image of the fiery door to Muspelheim to illustrate what is coming. Today, serial Assassin’s Creed leaker j0nathan shared a new video breaking down his latest findings - including new concept art and information taken from the game’s latest patch, which appears to show the expansion’s name and achievements/trophy list....

Beyond that, there’s even more on the horizon - and last week I chatted with producer José Araiza on what else to expect, plus more details on the return of Kassandra and a return for Basim. That’s all below - but first, today’s big announcements. First up for Assassin’s Creed fans is free crossover DLC, for both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Both DLC packs arrive tomorrow - 14th December....

An update on the Australian Classification website states that the game was refused classification because it “depict[s], express[es] or otherwise deal[s] with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults to the extent that they should not be classified” (thanks, Gamasutra). This means that unless developer ZA/UM - which, as yet, as not publicly responded to the decision - censors or cuts the content committee deems problematic, the game is unable to be legally sold in Australia....

The studio made the announcement in its latest developer update, which highlights some of the new additions coming to Battlefield 2042 as part of Season 3 and beyond. Season 3, which is yet to receive an official start date, includes a new multiplayer map, a new Specialist, new weapons - including Bad Company 2’s XM8 and Battlefield 3’s A-91 - plus a new Battle Pass. It’ll also usher in map reworks for Manifest and Breakaway....

Known as The Cannibal in the game, Leatherface (from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre films) players can unlock masks to wear based on the game’s playable survivors - just like the film character. One of those masks is of Black survivor Claudette Morel. A number of players campaigned to remove the mask from the game following racist harassment as it was used as blackface. Behaviour announced the removal of the cosmetics in a developer update....

New Dragon Age exec producer Christian Dailey, previously of Blizzard and BioWare’s Anthem team, shared this wallpaper-sized image over the weekend. Who the character is, we don’t know. But the setting? That, we do. Creative director Matthew Goldman chipped in to note this location as Minrathous, which should ring a few bells for any long-time fans of the franchise. Minrathous is the capital of the Tevinter Imperium, which BioWare has now officially confirmed will be where a chunk of its next game will be set....

Bloober Team - the studio behind the likes of The Medium, Layers of Fear, and Observer - has been rumoured to be involved in a Silent Hill revival as far back as June last year, when it announced a partnership with Konami to create a new game. Rumours that the project would be a Silent Hill 2 remake began to coalesce following a series of leaks earlier this year. Now, though, Konami and Bloober Team have made things official, revealing the remake during a busy Silent-Hill-focused livestream in a two-and-a-half minute trailer....

Bungie was one of the first studios to speak out in support of Roe v Wade, a key judgement which legalised abortion across the US, following recent reports the US Supreme Court was trying to overturn the ruling. At the time, the developer called the move a “direct attack on human rights”, adding that “standing up for reproductive choice and liberty is not a difficult decision to make, and Bungie remains dedicated to upholding these values”....

The now-fixed exploit let you repeatedly sell weapons at the game’s Buy Stations in exchange for XP. In a quick fix for the issue, XP from Buy Stations was nerfed to counter the number of people quickly levelling up their weapons. But, as fans quickly found, this still left the game’s white dumpster Dead Drops as an option. This lasted another half day or so, until it too was countered by another behind the scenes change....

As part of its third quarter 2021 report, CD Projekt said it’s currently “hard at work” on Cyberpunk 2077’s PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions - which were originally due to launch this year before the studio made the decision to push their release into early 2022 - and that these would be accompanied by a “major update” for all platforms. CD Projekt is yet to detail what this will include, but Cyberpunk hasn’t received an update since September’s 1....

Excitingly, it’ll be available day-one on Xbox Game Pass, on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. It’ll also be available on PC from a number of stores (Steam, GOG, Epic, Humble), and - this just in - Nintendo Switch. There’s no PlayStation version, sadly. I played a demo of Citizen Sleeper recently and was impressed. It’s a mash-up of a board game and an RPG. There’s a lot of descriptive text and dialogue choices, as you’d get in an RPG, and there’s levelling up and skills and that kind of thing....

The Portugal pack includes a new leader and civilisation (Portugal, obviously), the new optional game mode Zombie Defense, two new world wonders in the Torre de Belém and Etemenanki, and a new Wetlands map script. Firaxis is saving a deep dive on Portugal for a future update, but as you’d expect the civ will revolve around naval gameplay, particularly maritime exploration and trade - something not a lot of other civs specialise in....

World War Z initially launched for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox back in 2019, where its chaotic third-person zombie slaughter - reminiscent of Valve’s seminal Left 4 Dead series - quickly found a legion of fans, selling over one million copies in the first week alone. Since then, Saber has built on World War Z’s schlocky, solid core with a heap of post-launch content. Most of this will be making its way to the Switch edition of World War Z at launch, meaning purchasers will be able to enjoy new modes, weapons, zombies types, and a seventh character class, Dronemaster, alongside the base game....
