Return to Monkey Island is slated to release sometime this year, and come to consoles first via Nintendo Switch. We have been given some nice titbits of information about its upcoming release, including that it will be starting off at an amusement park (where Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge concluded), but the team has been keeping its cards close to its chest in terms of story and trailer reveals. Well, that was until now....

Alongside an array of Silent Hill game projects to look forward to, you should also be aware of a new Silent Hill film, set to follow the 2006 original that starred Sean Bean. Return to Silent Hill is the movie project we’ve heard whispers of previously from the original film’s director Christophe Gans. Tonight, Konami assistant producer Rui Naito confirmed this big screen follow-up was very much a thing that was happening - and indeed that it has actually been the “catalyst” for the new wave of Silent Hill games coming to fruition....

Western Digital’s Blue line sits below their premium Black range of products. However, this is still a very fast NVMe Gen 3 drive, with read speeds up to 3500MB/s and write speeds of up to 3300MB/s. And the 2TB capacity is plenty for Windows, large files and even the biggest games, such as Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption 2. This drive has previously been featured as Digital Foundry’s best cheap NVMe SSD and you can see why, thanks to Western Digital opting for TLC memory instead of the cheaper QLC stuff....

As we learned earlier this week, Sifu’s new difficulty levels will come in three flavours - Student, Disciple, and Master - and Sloclap’s latest preview trailer breaks each setting down in a little more detail. Disciple, for instance, will offer the “classic Sifu experience”, and it’s the option for those that want to continue playing the game as it is now. Student, however, is designed for those wanting a slightly easier ride....

That’s according to game director Ryan Barnard, who revealed to True Achievements that whilst it will have “narrative pieces”, focus on your player’s own story and has “an underlying story”, the adventure will not be “narrative-driven”. “Skull and Bones is not a narrative-driven game,” Barnard explains. “We have narrative pieces - in the game, you’ll meet important NPCs called Kingpins which have their own stories that you’ll learn as you develop rapport with them by taking on contracts with them....

Over the weekend, God of War creative director Cory Barlog said it was “completely fucking stupid” fans have to “dodge the spoilers” after retailers began selling Ragnarök copies well ahead of the game’s official launch on Wednesday 9th November - still more than a week away. Now, Sony Santa Monica has offered its own less-sweary official comment, asking fans to be considerate of others, and advising those who wish to remain unspoiled to “mute any keywords or hashtags associated with the game until release day” when browsing social media....

The comments were made by Yasuo Takahashi and Kenjo Akiyama, two senior directors at Sony Interative Entertainment, at an event during Computer Entertainment Developers Conference (CEDEC) 2022. The talk revealed new details about the software that will help developers in creating for or porting onto PSVR2 (reported by IGN). Game development for PSVR2 will use the same software development kit (SDK) as the PS5, making it easier for developers to create VR versions of existing PS5 games....

“Due to the severity of the recent attacks we have no other option than to temporarily disable the game servers,” reads a post from the official LittleBigPlanet Twitter page. “We do not take these attacks lightly especially when they target our loyal community members. Thanks for understanding.” This follows a tweet published yesterday, 21st May acknowledging issues with the servers following “new attacks”. In April, Eurogamer reported on how community content for various games in the LittleBigPlanet series remained largely inaccessible six weeks after PlayStation first acknowledged issues with the servers....

And, we know now that Toad will have a small musical number in the film, revealed by Keegan-Michael Key. Key, who studied theatre at university, has sung on-screen previously in the TV series Schmigadoon! and Netflix’s Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey. In an interview with Variety, Key revealed he got to improvise a song in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, adding the experience was “an absolute blast”. He also discussed the process of nailing Toad’s voice with directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic....

Doing so will unlock the Resilient Suit and Concussive Blast Gadget in-game, as well as two skill points. Players will also receive news, updates and offers from PlayStation Studios on PC or PlayStation platforms. Spider-Man Remastered is the first PlayStation game on PC to offer this option, though it looks like Trophy support isn’t included. It’s unclear if previous games will also be updated with this feature, or if it will be included in future releases like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves....

Insomniac confirmed the news in a tweet, noting the game is Steam Deck verified. It means you can swing through New York City on the go… in actual New York City if you want. Watch on YouTube Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered - PC features trailer. Bend Studio - whose game Days Gone is also playable on the handheld - replied to the tweet with “welcome to the club”. If you’ve already pre-purchased Spider-Man Remastered on Steam, be aware that the price has recently been amended so you’ll need to cancel and pre-purchase again at the lower price....

What’s more, Splatoon was a huge success and has since become nothing short of a phenomenon, with convenience stores in Tokyo stocked with official snacks and toys while its knockabout brand of messy third-person shooting action has been embraced by millions. Perhaps a little too successful, mind; Splatoon 2 played a part in the Switch’s busy launch year, a quickfire sequel to the bold original that could feel a little too familiar....

A recent update to the game’s store means XP boosters are now for sale via “consumables”. These boosts let players speed up character growth in exchange for real-world money. Fans have hit out at the move, pointing to pre-launch promises to sell cosmetics only. Neither Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics have commented on the update (we’ve asked), but fans feared the worst when Marvel’s Avengers received an XP nerf in March....
