Announced back in March, Lego Bricktales sees players traversing five gorgeous, brick-based dioramas - a lush jungle, sun-drenched desert, bustling city corner, medieval castle, and tropical island - as they, with the assistant of a cute robot pal, embark on a quest to help their grandfather reinvigorate his rundown amusement park. The ensuing adventure offers a blend of puzzling and questing based around Lego Bricktales’ brick-by-brick building mechanic, challenging players to come up with a solution to a particular task at hand by building something from a limited number of bricks - a bridge to cross a river, for instance, or a flyable, physics-based gyrocopter....

Speaking to Rock, Paper, Shotgun, senior narrative designer Philip Lawrence said the decision to launch last year’s entry True Colors as a complete experience was “the right decision”, and one the studio wanted to stick with. “I can’t imagine we’d go back to the episodic model,” Lawrence said. “The reaction has been very positive.” True Colors is still divided into five episode-like chapters, but arrived in 2021 as a single package - the first game in the series to do so....

Update 1.6.4.0 is the final patch for Enderal, SureAI said in a post on its forum, as the team no longer has the time to keep on top of the mod. This also means SureAI will not create a port of the mod for Skyrim Special Edition (Enderal requires the original PC version of Bethesda’s game to work). What’s next? “SureAI is currently working on a new, commercial project which will hopefully be announced this year,” the team said....

In honour of this film - which I haven’t seen either - I named my first winery Goldman Wines. Fittingly, Goldman Wines has been a bit of a disaster. But it’s been fun too. Hundred Days is a game about making wine. Last week a demo for it was available as part of Steam’s Game Festival and I gave it a bit of a tinker. It’s sort of a card game and sort of a Tetris thing....

Originally released in 1999, this was the first instalment in Camelot’s Mario Golf series and is considered the first modern Mario sports game, with a Game Boy Colour counterpart later that year. Discussing the long-requested threequel with former Nintendo Treehouse employees Kit and Krysta on their new podcast (thanks, Nintendo Life), producer Shinichi Kameoka was asked directly why Mother 3 had never seen the light of day outside of Japan. “Personally, I think the biggest selling point of Mother 3 is [creator] Shigesatao Itoi’s unique writing style,” Kameoka replied, “translating the charm and nuances of his writing into other languages is quite a challenge, and maybe that’s why it’s taken so long to consider international releases of Mother 3....

The veteran company - originally founded in 1978 - will relaunch a trio of its classic games for modern consoles over the next year. First off will be Ikki Unite, a co-op multiplayer remake based on the original Ikki for NES. This will stick closer to the developer’s original vision for the project, Sunsoft says, and launch soon via a closed beta on Steam. In a press release today, Sunsoft rather humourously acknowledged the original Ikki’s “poor quality” - something which led to the title coining the Japanese phrase “kusoge”, which Sunsoft says translates to “crap game”, though the more common internet translation is in fact “shitty game”....

It features a Splatoon design across the back and the on the dock, with neon coloured Joy-Con. It will be available from 26th August. That’s just ahead of the release of Splatoon 3, set for 9th September. Also available will be a Splatoon 3 Pro Controller and a carrying case, both also available from 9th September. Splatoon 3 will feature the series’ traditional 4x4 Turf War mode, with Inklings battling it out to squirt their way to victory....
