Available to play today is Chivalry 2, which was revealed before Microsoft posted the full selection on the official Xbox blog. Games which were already confirmed to be available on day one with Game Pass Eville (11th October), Scorn (14th October), and A Plague Tale: Requiem (18th October). Medieval Dynasty, a survival base building game set in the Middle Ages, is available now with PC Game Pass and will join the Xbox library on 6th October....

Speaking via the Decoder podcast, Spencer said the company intended to sell Call of Duty on PlayStation “for as long as players want to play Call of Duty on PlayStation”. Back in September, Spencer made a written commitment to PlayStation’s Jim Ryan that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation. However, Ryan labelled the statement “inadequate on many levels,” while others point out that a commitment is not a legally binding contract....

It rarely works that way with video games, I suspect. And this has rarely been more obvious than when I sat down to play Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion this afternoon. Here is a top-down Zelda-alike, I had been told, that I could see off in an hour or two. And it was true - two hours and done, although there was plenty left to go back to. I felt slightly bad about it, though....

I know what happens next. I know because this is Deathloop, and what happens once here will happen a thousand times, each enemy dancing to a predestined script they have no idea exists. As I watch on, they do exactly as they did the last time I was here. One Eternalist turns left. The other heads right. The third settles down onto the steps in front of her. I raise my gun until her head fills the small red circle in my reticle, but my attention shifts briefly to the Eternalist just ahead of her....

In a post on the Guild Wars 2 website, senior engine programmer James Fulop said a beta for the DirectX11 support goes live on 21st September. Guild Wars 2, which launched in 2012, currently supports DirectX9. Fulop explained the jump to DirectX11, saying it would improve the fantasy MMO’s framerate, and help lay the foundations for the game’s graphics for years to come. “Client performance is a priority for us, and we want everyone to be able to play with the highest possible framerate,” Fulop explained....

Sharing the milestone on Twitter, publisher Focus Entertainment thanked all those who had embarked on this “incredible journey with Amicia and Hugo” so far. A Plague Tale: Requiem released on 18th October for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X (as well as on Xbox Game Pass), and Nintendo Switch via cloud play. Today’s figure includes players from all of these platforms, and doesn’t break anything out in terms of full sales....

They’re still mercilessly hunted by a shady organisation with a never ending supply of soldiers, and they’re still very much at danger from the plague ravaging the land: The Black Death and the hordes of rats that carry it....

I read my first Agatha Christie book over the weekend - The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, which I gather is actually a pretty stupid place to start as it’s seen as being one of her best. Where to go from there? I wanted to read a bit of Christie in part because we’d just binged the cheerful pantomime of the Branagh films. Mostly, though, I think something had been put into my head when I read Stuart Turton’s luminous mystery, The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, a few years back....

Community manager Luxendra advises that there will be “two separate times listed for these merges”, “one for preparation and one for execution”. Dozens and dozens of worlds are affected - enough that I can’t list them all here - but you can check the changes for your region on the official forum. “As a reminder, once in-game messaging is posted, players in these worlds will not be able to transfer servers,” the post explains....

Based in Montreal, the studio will focus on making original AAA games, starting with a new online multiplayer IP (which probably explains why the ex-Rainbow Six Siege devs have been brought in). In Respawn’s defence, Apex Legends Mobile isn’t a port. Built from the ground up for mobile, Respawn takes all I love about its irrepressible battle royale - its striking style, excellent sound design, fabulous cast, and delightful gunplay - and wraps it up in flashy new threads designed specifically for mobile devices. Not all of it lands - particularly its cluttered UI and complex progression and currency systems; more on those later - but there’s a lot to enjoy here, even if you’re new to playing shooters on mobile....

Set in feudal Japan, you play as a shenobi assassin named Kenshiro, but the true star of the show is Kenshiro’s faithful hound, Haru (aka, Dave). Haru accompanies you on your missions and is a useful tool when it comes to distracting enemies, but this wonderfully fluffy doggo is at its most paw-some when you’re back at your family dojo. In this between missions hub, you can pet and stroke Haru for as long as you want, something that often triggers some super cute animations....

Already available in Japan, the book contains writing from Iwata originally published in his insightful Iwata Asks interview series as well as new recollections from others who knew him, including Shigeru Miyamoto. The first translations of these interviews were released last year - and they provide an unusually personal look at the relationship Iwata had with others at Nintendo. “To me, he was a friend more than anything,” Miyamoto said in one previously-published excerpt....

In its current form, Odyssey retains the 30fps limit seen on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro when playing on Sony and Microsoft’s newest consoles via backward compatibility, meaning players are in for an extremely welcome 100% frame rate boost when the update arrives. According to Ubisoft’s announcement post, that’ll happen at 7am tomorrow, 24th August, in the UK. Meanwhile, those that set their watches to Pacific Daylight Time won’t have to roll into a new day - it’s out tonight, 23rd August, at 11pm PDT....

Such crossovers are always going to be fan-pleasing fun - but it was actually the first half of this new content, added to 2018’s Odyssey, which really took me by surprise. It has been a very long three years since I explored Odyssey’s sun-drenched Aegean for the first time - and this week’s sizeable new questline, lovingly crafted by Odyssey’s Quebec studio, felt like a trip back in time. It’s a little surprising Ubisoft hasn’t said more about what Odyssey’s new “A Kind of Treasure Hunt” DLC has in store - or how much there is there to discover....

This activity was originally added to the game earlier this year, and adds a new storyline expanding upon the series’ mysterious precursor Isu race, doled out by exploring a string of fun puzzle dungeons. It also allows for Eivor to come face-to-face with a series of British figures from history before her time - such as the ancient queen of the Iceni, Boudicca. Fans have some interesting theories on who may pop up in this concluding set of dungeons (including someone perhaps more from Assassin’s Creed lore than actual history itself)....

However, we are now just shy of five years since that initial trailer first splashed its surreal way onto our screens, and with the release now a little over a month away (21st February), the developer has addressed the game’s lengthy development. According to Atomic Heart director Robert Bagratuni, the game’s delay and our subsequent long wait for this release can be attributed to four things - “youth, ambition, innovation and new technology”....

For those who don’t know already, Autonauts is a game where you build and then train robots to automate the world around you. Sounds easy enough, but there is a catch. In short, these robots are only ever going to be as smart as you tell them to be. It is up to you as the player to teach your bots what do. You will need to upgrade them and expand their brains as the game progresses, opening up their full operational potential....
