The Smash Bros-style fighter will arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, published by Bandai Namco. The idea here is to battle - solo or with up to eight players (four on PlayStation) - and collect minifigures which you can then customise to create your own hero of choice. You can then take said hero and attempt to tackle the game’s global leaderboards. Themes include classic Lego settings such as Castle and Space, as well as levels and characters based around Ninjago, Jurassic World and Monkie Kid....

The update primarily hopes to address bugs and issues with the game, as well as provide some additional - if unspecified - quality-of-life improvements for players. Whilst the game’s English-language social media channels have yet to publicise the patch, the blue blur’s Japanese counterpart has, revealing that the update is now ready for PS4 and PS5 now and will be available for other platforms “in the near future”. The partially-redacted document was released publicly today as part of the UK’s ongoing in-depth Competition and Markets Authority review into Microsoft’s proposed $68bn Activision Blizzard buyout - a deal Sony has strongly objected to. In an intriguing passage discussing the length of time Call of Duty may remain on PlayStation, Sony claims that (at the time of writing) it expected to lose access to the franchise in 2027. Sony then goes on to state that by the time it “launched the next generation of its PlayStation console… it would have lost access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles”....

According to Variety, the show’s version of the iconic Sweet Tooth is a “hilarious and terrifying hulk of a man, who is as emotional as he is cunning. A lover of chaos, this majestic rage-filled killer dons an ever-smiling clown mask and uses ‘Lost Vegas’ as his own personal kill-ground, all while he drives his infamous doomsday ice cream truck.” The Twisted Metal series - a half-hour action comedy scripted by Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith for Peacock - follows a motor-mouthed outsider, played by Anthony Mackie, who’s offered a chance at a better life as long as he can deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland dominated by savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction....

The Sims 2? Not sure if I even played it. I was 21 when it was released in 2004 and, like much of my life back then, the memories are a bit fuzzy. Number three meanwhile was inspirational. Not so much the game itself, although many would say it’s the high point of the series, but the writing about it. Robin Burkinshaw’s “Alice and Kev”, a blog chronicling the adventures of a homeless Sim and his daughter, really struck a chord and inspired me to try my hand at something similar....

Tweaks to the game since its first round of testing include a fresh option on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S to “reduce input delay” as a setting in the game’s Graphics menu, which will “shorten the gap between your inputs and the action happening on-screen”. Alternatively, on PC, you can toggle your Vsync setting off. The trade-off here is that this may increase the likelihood of screen-tearing, Capcom warns....

The cut footage was found back in 2019 via an old VHS tape, but was in poor quality. Since then, a group has worked on restoring the long-lost version, which is now available to watch in full via the Internet Archive. As officially released, Super Mario Bros. was 104 minutes. This new version - dubbed the Morton Jankel Cut in honour of its husband and wife director team - runs 125 minutes, with most scenes extended....

The Devil in Me will be the fourth instalment in Supermassive’s Dark Pictures series - following on from Man of Medan, Little Hope, and House of Ashes - and tells the story of a group of film makers trapped in a replica of H. H. Holmes’ infamous ‘Murder Castle’ hotel. Based on everything shown so far, The Devil in Me looks to be something of a departure from previous anthology entries, trading their supernatural overtones for a more grounded, grisly horror inspired by the likes of the Saw and Hostel movies....

Metal: Hellsinger, which was revealed back in June 2020, is the work of developer The Outsiders - the studio co-founded by former Battlefield 3 lead designer and Payday 2 director David Goldfarb - and promises to developer plenty of furious gun-based demon-slaying, all synced up to a metal soundtrack. Each of the game’s stages will feature its own track, with the player’s power increasing - alongside the complexity of the music, from atmospheric background ambience all the way up to big metal anthems - if they manage to keep their attacks timed to the beat....

Once enabled in the settings, players can access the mode and snap away. The team at Shedworks also have a photography competition planned, as noted in the latest update blog. That same blog also details a number of other fixes and additions to the game. Most importantly, changes have been made to the camera to reduce motion sickness when riding vehicles. Also included are a number of performance optimisations, reducing micro-stuttering and texture memory usage....

The trailer in question (which I have seen) introduced an NPC known as Shaun. It was a playful set up that showed Shaun being interviewed about his work on Goat Simulator 3. Here he boasted about his impressive rag-dolling skills (he went to the “most prestigious rag-dolling school in the world”, you see), and reflected that sometimes he just sits on a bench and ponders the world at large. All in all, some fairly inoffensive stuff....

It’s magical, actually: a voxely world that’s just ready to crumble if you find the right way to approach things. You play as a thief of sorts, and each mission drops you into a sandbox with a simple sort of objective - get this, destroy that. You have as long as you want to scope things out and plan how you’re going to tackle things, and then you’re off. The magic may be in how things come down - the way a wall collapses as you ease a dumptruck through it, or even the way a window splinters into tinkling pieces after a blow from your hammer - but what keeps me playing is a totally unexpected rigour to the whole thing....

Gylt, an enjoyably surreal horror yarn that follows the adventures of a young girl in search of her missing cousin, launched exclusively on Stadia back in 2019. And while Tequila Works did at one point suggest a multiplatform release might eventually be on the cards, it’s remained resolutely Stadia-bound in the years since. However, following last week’s announcement that Google will be shutting down Stadia on 18th January next year - a move that prompted questions as to what might happen to the cloud gaming service’s handful of remaining exclusives - Tequila Works has confirmed Gylt will finally be getting a multiplatform release some time in 2023....

Events came to a head at the start of February, when Re-Logic founder Andrew Spinks railed against Google on Twitter after his account had been disabled for three weeks with no explanation - preventing access to his Google Play app library, Google Drive data, and YouTube channel. “The worst of all,” he wrote, “is losing access to my Gmail address of over 15 years.” “I absolutely have not done anything to violate your terms of service, so I can take this no other way than you deciding to burn this bridge,” he added....

That’s according to a round of reports from Windows Central and GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, which have leaked details on the unannounced collaboration, currently codenamed Project Belfry. Belfry will feature side-scrolling brawl combat like Dragon’s Crown while keeping some of The Banner Saga’s iconic art style. Princess Mononoke is also mentioned as another visual reference. The Belfry in question apparently refers to the game’s base location, where you can craft and upgrade....
