Paramount also unveiled its UK commissioned factual slate ahead of the streaming platform’s launch tomorrow. “Our mission is to make Paramount Plus the leading destination for unmissable television in collaboration with the UK’s storytelling talent,” said Ben Frow, Paramount’s chief content officer for the UK....

The game has been developed by Dotemu, a French studio dedicated to retro games that worked on the likes of Streets of Rage 4, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, and a remaster of the original Windjammers released on PS4 and Vita in 2017. The Xbox Play team has daily streams on the main Xbox Twitch channel. Since April, the team has partnered with Sorenson (a communications company with the largest global interpreter base) to launch a dedicated ASL channel with around 25 hours of streams a week. This follows the inclusion of sign language support in Forza Horizon 5 - both American and British. The news comes as part of Microsoft’s wider accessibility features on Xbox in celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day....

Like a Dragon: Ishin originally released for PlayStation 3 and PS4 in Japan (under the name Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin!) back in 2014, transplanting the chaotic Yakuza formula to the Late Edo Period for a historical slice of samurai action. It follows protagonist Sakamoto Ryōma as he returns to his home in Tosa where, after a run-in with a high-ranking samurai, he’s sentenced to be executed. Needless to say, that particular crisis is averted, and Ryōma finds himself on a quest through 1860s Kyo that serves up another distinctive slice of story, action, and mini-games that should be familiar to Yakuza fans, even if the setting isn’t....

Yooka-Laylee, if you’re unfamiliar, is a spiritual successor to Rare’s beloved platformer Banjo-Kazooie - and was developed by Playtonic, a studio founded by a number of ex-Rare veterans. Lizard and bat replace bear and bird in Yooka-Laylee, but the formula will be immediately familiar to Banjo-Kazooie fans, setting players loose across a number of sprawling, predominantly platforming-focussed worlds as they embark on an perky, old-school collectathon in search of missing Quills....

Fans have speculated whether other characters will join battles, which producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed to IGN - although they will remain AI-controlled. “We didn’t want to overwhelm users in our newest trailer, so we focused solely on Clive’s battles. That said, for most of his journey, Clive will be accompanied by one or more companions. These companions will participate in battle, as well as trade banter with Clive. That said, the party members will be AI-driven so as to allow players to focus solely on controlling Clive,” said Yoshida....

Nintendo confirmed the re-release of its oddball Wii Zelda during the company’s big Nintendo Direct showcase this evening, and also showed off a pair of Zelda-themed Joy-Con. It’s the 35th anniversary of Zelda this year, which will be marked by a variety of announcements - not all of them tonight. Skyward Sword launched in the twilight years of the Wii, and earned a divisive reputation among fans for experimenting with the Zelda formula....

In response, Activision has now filed its own lawsuit against California’s recently-renamed Civil Rights Department (CRD) - the same agency currently trying to sue Activision - over claims the department has taken too long with its own case and not been transparent over its connections with the media and labour unions (thanks, Axios). Activision is now asking a judge to force the CRD (previously the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, or DFEH) to produce various internal documents....

Ricochet is described as a “multi-faceted” approach to combatting cheating, and includes “new server-side tools which monitor analytics to identify cheating, enhanced investigation processes to stamp out cheaters, updates to strengthen account security, and more.” One major part of this new anti-cheat solution is a kernel-level driver for PC that’ll sit on players’ computers and monitor for applications “that attempt to interact and manipulate Call of Duty” in an unsportsmanlike manner....

Walter “Fuse” Fitzroy, a former mercenary and a “true connoisseur of explosives”, is the 16th hero to join Apex Legends’ ever-growing line-up, and, following on from his initial unveiling earlier this month, has now been given the full reveal treatment in a new video. Fuse, who can rain-down destruction from an “exceptional range”, comes equipped with the passive Grenadier ability. This enables him to stack one more grenade per inventory slot than any other hero, and throw them “farther, faster, and more accurately” using his mechanical arm....

This means, for example, a game company who holds a user’s email address could then contact that person to suggest they buy a season pass or in-game currency directly from them, rather than via the App Store where Apple takes its cut. Until now, Apple did not let developers use any contact information obtained from within an app to contact their users outside of the app. A class-action lawsuit said this was unfair, and blocked the ability for them to inform customers of cheaper purchase options (thanks, Ars Technica)....
