This all ties in brilliantly to the genuinely astonishing work being undertaken by members of the Access the Animus fan community, which has been painstakingly translating Valhalla’s secret Isu runes over the past couple of months. That group’s efforts had culminated in an attempt to crack the Isu language inscribed on Valhalla’s collector’s edition box - but with only partial success....

As spotted by VGC, Bandai Namco made the announcement as part of its newly released mid-term plan spanning April 2022 to March 2025. That’s according to reliable Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson, who was one of the first to report yesterday on Battlefield 2042’s overall delay to 19th November. DICE had previously said players would be able to get their hands on with Battlefield 2042 during September. Now, the open beta is expected early next month, with 6th October floated as a date for pre-order customers before everyone else gets in on 8th October....

We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well.” In other words, with Bethesda’s next big title, sci-fi RPG Starfield, delayed until next year, and still no word on a potential release window for The Elder Scrolls 6 - despite the game having received its first official tease back in 2018 - it sounds like there’ll be an extremely long wait until Fallout 5 finally sees the light of day....

The new initiative, entitled Screen Culture 2033, will “advocate for the value of the full breadth of screen culture, including video games and interactive work”. Topping the November sales chart, that means Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has not only knocked Elden Ring off the coveted top spot, but it’s also resisted stiff competition from other games released last month, including God of War: Ragnarök and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. According to data from NPD and reported by VGC, that also makes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 the fastest-selling entry not just of the year, but of the franchise’s storied history, too, hitting $1bn in sales in just 10 days....

And, in response, console players are disabling crossplay in a bid to avoid matching up with those on PC - the platform believed to have the most trouble with hackers. If it sounds like you’ve read this story before, it’s because the same thing happened with the beta for last year’s Call of Duty Vanguard and 2020’s Black Ops Cold War. As you can see from the clip posted to Twitter by MW2 Beta Plug, cheaters are using wallhacks to spot enemies before they should, and aimbots to ensure they never miss....

On Twitter the company explained an unidentified actor had breached its systems and collected data belonging to CD Projekt, and was now threatening to release the contents. CD Projekt said some of its devices had been encrypted by the attack, but that company backups remain intact and it is in the process of restoring its data. Unusually, CD Projekt also released a copy of the ransom note sent by the unidentified actor....

Last week, former Days Gone director John Garvin controversially stated the reason the game didn’t receive universal acclaim was because of “woke reviewers” and reviewers who “couldn’t be bothered to actually play the game”. In addition to these unusual remarks, Garvin also threw the game’s programmers under the bus, blaming Days Gone’s “tech issues” such as “bugs, streaming and frame rate” for its middling reception. In response to these claims, Bend Studio publicly stated that it did not share the sentiments of its former creative director, and now fellow Days Gone director Jeff Ross has added in his two cents worth on the matter....
