Initially released on PS4 back in 2019 as a PlayLink title before making its way to iOS earlier this year, Erica tells the story of the eponymous Erica Mason (played by Holly Earl) who finds herself embroiled in a murder investigation after receiving something sinister in the mail. As events unfold, Erica is forced to revisit the events of her youth in order to uncover the truth - with players helping guide the narrative in new directions by interacting with objects or choosing how to respond to the action at various junctures along the way....

It includes a new MP9 weapon - the first fully-automatic SMG that uses 9mm - a new vehicle that will see you “zipping down roads with sirens ablaze” (so not for the stealthy, it seems), and the Blue Chip Detector tactical gear which uses primary weapon slots but can be used to scan for enemies within a 100m radius; you’ll see the nearest 12 enemies on the map. Crossplay and cross-progression between PC, Stadia and Luna will arrive on 30th June, Ubisoft said tonight during its E3 Ubisoft Forward presentation. PlayStation and Xbox crossplay will arrive later, in “early 2022”. At that point, cross-progression between all platforms will then be possible.

That’s the lowest price we’ve seen Rockstar’s giant western sandbox drop to so far - at least for a brand new copy. The closest it’s come to this price before is around £30 and it seems unlikely it’ll drop any lower than that for a while....

“Whoopsie!” Riot wrote in an unusual statement published to Valorant’s official German Twitter account last night (thanks, PC Gamer). The climbdown came after an illustration posted to the account showed Killjoy in an art gallery, gazing at a picture by German artist and NFT seller Martin Houra. The artwork in question is an NFT, and Houra has previously put it up for sale using the planet burning cryptocurrency Ethereum. (It’s ironic, however, that this NFT has apparently been right-click-saved for use in Riot’s artwork....

However, in light of the pretty poor reception following its GTA trilogy release last year (yes, I am being generous here), the company has now apparently put these ideas to one side. Sources with knowledge of Rockstar’s inner workings have now confirmed to Kotaku that recent rumours to this effect were indeed true, and we were meant to be getting a shiny new upgrade for both games. Last year’s release of the GTA trilogy came as a real blow to Rockstar, however, and now the company is hoping to put all of that bad press behind it....

In the meantime, over the last 12 months, an incredibly similar-looking spherical puzzle game has been put together by a small team after raising £43k via Indiegogo. The result is Rolled Out! and it er, rolled out onto Steam Early Access last night. A number of animals are featured in the game, with Morris the Rat shown in the footage above. Otherwise, the similarities to Sega’s simians are more than apparent....

Nacho Requena - editor of Spanish games magazine, Manual - teased in a recent Twitch stream that new announcements - this time from major publishers about third-party games - is slated for this coming Tuesday, 28th June 2022. “We should have a Nintendo Direct this coming Tuesday,” Requena reportedly said, as translated by VGC. “This will be mainly focused on third-party games – that’s what I’ve been told to expect....

The USB controller is based upon the Cyber Stick and offers analogue controls for compatible games on Sega’s diminutive system. As demonstrated in yesterday’s announcement livestream, like its 90s predecessor, it’ll feature a throttle, stick, and the ability to suit both right- and left-handed players. The Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 itself will retail for around half the price of this newly-announced peripheral (thanks, Famitsu). Sega unveiled the Mega Drive Mini 2, its latest mini retro console, earlier this month after hinting that it had a big “new project” to share with us and teasing that the broadcast would reportedly include appearances from Hiroyuki Miyazaki and Yosuke Okunari....

As a reminder, the new PlayStation Plus tiers will arrive here in the UK on 23rd June, as with elsewhere in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. This follows the service’s launch in the Americas on 13th June, Japan on 2nd June, and Asia next week on 24th May. The prototype promises increased visual fidelity, reduced latency and OLED microdisplays. Don’t get too excited about PSVR though: this headset is likely intended for purposes beyond gaming. The prototype was developed by Sony R&D (not PlayStation) and was revealed in a video as part of ‘Sony Technology Day’.
