You can check out the official teaser below. Admittedly, the trailer doesn’t really tell us a huge amount about what we can expect when these towering and muscle clad beasts make their Warzone debut. We can see the two foes squaring up to fight in a very similar manner to their brawl in the Godzilla vs Kong film of last year....

The surprising U-turn comes after esports were piloted at the 2022 Games held in Birmingham. The pilot was co-funded by the Commonwealth Games Federation (GF) and the Global Esports Federation (GEF). At the time, the CGF called the pilot a success and expected esports to be held at future Games. The CGF, GEF and the 2026 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee all refused to give an explanation for the U-turn when contacted by BBC News....

The official Crysis Twitter account dropped the tease earlier this week with two tweets. The first states “They used to call me Prophet” - which refers to Crysis 2 character Major Laurence “Prophet” Barnesa - and then a follow-up tweet gives away nowt but the wide-eyes emoji. The following day, it shared a screenshot from Crysis 2 and yet another eyes emoji. Given 2021 marks 10 years since Crysis 2 first debuted and the original game’s remaster released last year, it’s certainly logical that the team would turn to the sequel next, although a lot of the commenters in the subsequent Twitter threads suggest they’d rather a fourth instalment than yet another remake....

“A new art path had to be developed for Curse of Monkey Island,” game designer Jonathan Ackley revealed on Twitter. “2D games of the time scanned drawings straight to raster, causing heavy aliasing. We used US Animation. It vectorised the line art before compositing and colour/resolution reduction, creating smoother art,” he explained. In addition to this little nugget of information, when asked if the game’s animation was done with the vectors on PC, Ackley also revealed that every frame of animation in Curse of Monkey Island was “all drawn on paper” first....

No more! A new update to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch adds a custom item option and it’s the best thing to happen to the game. Honestly I’m surprised it’s taken Nintendo this long to implement. Yes, items are used to even out the skill levels of racers as well as increase the mayhem, but item customisation was included in Super Smash Bros years ago. Modder DJ_Kovrik has created the Wannabe Edgerunner mod that adds in the Humanity stat. Essentially, every piece of cyberware has a Humanity Cost that gradually drives your character towards cyberpsychosis. Cyberware gives a permanent decrease to Humanity, while using abilities and killing enemies decreases it further, albeit temporarily. Even putting the human cost aside, it is an enormous shame. As much as the excitement has been at times irresponsibly over-fanned, Cyberpunk 2077 is a game of vast ambition. It’s driven by a core of characters wonderfully written and performed, a story of genuine layer, momentum and depth, a technical feat of immersive decision-making, and pumping, sim-inspired action. But the undeniable potential is drowning under the tidal wave of little issues....

Late last night, PS4 owners reported being unable to download the game’s ~72GB of required content files ahead of The Witch Queen going live today. Other platforms, including PS5, are unaffected. In a tweet this morning, Bungie’s support account acknowledged the snafu, and said PS4 owners would have to wait until 9am PST (5pm UK time) when the update formally goes live. This means a lengthy wait for PS4 owners to download and copy the update to their consoles - at a time friends on other platforms will be rushing to play....

From a personal perspective, I believe that it’s Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport reveal that was the highlight of the various shows we saw. First of all, while there was some (actually, quite a bit) of confusion about what we were actually seeing, the main ’talkthrough’ trailer is nothing short of a masterpiece. First of all, the scripting and story-telling via a single camera sweeping over a single circuit was beautiful, effortlessly showcasing all of the various new features the revised game had to offer....

Suffice to say that we’re very, very excited about Intel’s entry to the market - not least because of XeSS technology, which sees another industry giant taking on Nvidia’s DLSS - very high quality super-sampling based on machine learning. We’ll have more on this later in the week, but certainly from the slides we saw, the inputs and processing of XeSS look very, very similar to Team GeForce’s DLSS set-up - the difference being that Intel is looking to set industry standards for this exciting technology....
