The DK-themed land will boost the overall size of Universal Studios’ Nintendo park by 70 per cent and include a new roller coaster among other attractions. The underwear is unobtainable in the game without cheating, but players have discovered they’re worn by Fia - the NPC of hugging fame. Considering the underwear has a full set of stats, they were likely intended to be equipable but were later cut from the game....

This week, Epic agreed to purchase the Cary Towne Center, a 980,000-square-foot site just down the road from its current home in Cary, North Carolina. The vast complex will become Epic’s new home campus, which will open in 2024 after a three-year plan to refurbish and rebuild the area. I’m hoping for some statues of Fortnite fave Fishstick. While Epic will own the site, some of it may still be given over for use by the local community, the company said....

Reliable Dealabs leaker billbil-kun had previously suggested the giveaway would occur at some point over the festive period, and Epic confirmed this year’s freebies yesterday. Similar to 2021, this year Epic is giving away 15 games for free, and the first can already be claimed! The first game up for grabs is Bloons TD 6, a tower defense strategy game from 2018. The game’s had an update for the holidays which adds new maps, skins, and improvements....

The past 24 hours have seen two major NFT announcements from a pair of companies taking radically different stances. On the one hand, there’s Square Enix, which has decided to celebrate the venerable Final Fantasy 7’s 25th anniversary by launching a range of NFT mechandise. This announcement, its fair to say, has gone down like cold sick. On the other hand, there’s Mojang - the Microsoft-owned maker of Minecraft - which has drawn a line in the sand and said it will not integrate NFTs or allow others to use Minecraft in order to sell them....

Ghostwire: Tokyo got its first (and decidedly enigmatic) showing back at E3 2019; one year on, Tango Gameworks revealed the game to be some sort of action-focussed first-person horror experience unfolding on the rain-slicked streets of Tokyo, where players must energetically thrust their supernatural abilities at strikingly designed spirits known as The Visitors. That second showing bought with it a 2021 release window, but as last year reached its mid-point, Tango and publisher Bethesda announced a delay for the intriguing horror thingy, saying it was now aiming to launch in “early 2022”....

As noticed by NME, Evolve: Stage 2 players are now able to matchmake and join peer-to-peer multiplayer games online once more. This change has come thanks to a fan-made Discord channel for the game, which reached out to publisher 2K in a bid to find out more about its decision to close the servers down (something that happened all the way back in 2018). 2K has now gone on to acknowledge its community’s wishes, with the company posting this update on 22nd June: “Evolve: Stage 2 now has an online peer-to-peer server again… Thanks to you, we are reviving this unique gaming experience!...
