Elden Ring: A Night in the Lands Between, as the event will be known, is a collaboration between Bandai Namco, award-winning musician Kenny Garrett, and Takuya Kuroda. It promises “recognisable melodies from the game’s soundtrack… performed live in Jazz format - with improvisation” by a group of musicians lead by Garrett on alto sax and Kuroda on trumpet. “While video game soundtracks have seen variations as symphonic music and even Rock n’ Roll, our ‘A Night in the Lands Between’ Jazz event is exploring a wonderfully different treatment of the Elden Ring soundtrack”, wrote Bandai Namco’s senior director of esports and live entertainment Wataru Nakasuji in a statement accompanying today’s announcement....
In its Square Enix Montréal guise, Onama was a predominantly mobile-focused developer, perhaps best known for its Go series of puzzles games. It was working on Tomb Raider Reloaded, Avatar Generations, and a new Space Invaders game when it was acquired by Embracer Group alongside Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montréal in May. As reported by Bloomberg, however, Embracer Group today informed staff it will be closing the studio in a move the company says will affect around 200 employees....
Each January, Amplitude gives itself a well-deserved birthday pat on the back under the guise of its Endless Day celebrations, but it’s decided to retire that moniker for 2021, given Humankind’s conspicuous lack of an ‘Endless’ in the title. Evil Dead: The Game, which released as an Epic exclusive back in May, is developer Saber Interactive’s spin on the asymmetrical multiplayer horror genre. It sees four human Survivors (picking from a range of familiar Evil Dead characters, armed with everything from chainsaws to boomsticks) roaming a spooky forest in search of artefacts, while a fifth player gives chase as one of four powerful demons - the Warlord, Puppeteer, Necromancer, or Plaguebringer, all able to command undead armies of their own....
Lost Between Worlds’ surreal extraterrestrial action begins when Far Cry 6 protagonist Dani Rojas inadvertently stumbles across a crashed alien ship inhabited by an alien AI known as FAI. Unfortunately for Dani, FAI immediately seals the surrounding area and demands they embark on a quest to retrieve five crystals needed to repair their ship - each one hidden away in a mysterious rift containing a fractured simulation of Yara. There are familiar locations twisted into a surreal architectural kaleidoscope, others plunged deep underwater, and still others ravaged by endless lightning storms....
Perhaps this is the Dunia Engine’s last stand, but there’s no doubt that Far Cry 6 is still a handsome game and some of the new additions to the engine are striking. For example, the skies are considerably more impressive than prior games thanks to the inclusion of a ray-marched volumetric cloud rendering system. Similar technologies have been seen in Horizon Zero Dawn and Microsoft Flight Simulator to name just two, but the clouds do look good in Far Cry 6, particularly in how they interact with lighting, especially during sunset....
However, its ultra-arcade stylings, completely untethered from how real snowboarding events actually work (I wouldn’t know, but I doubt its ice tunnels and sky-high rails are a thing), turned out to be its big selling point. Everything about SSX Tricky is loud and disobedient, but unlike Jet Set Radio, it still comes packaged as a sporting competition, just one where knocking opponents off the track is openly encouraged and rewarded....

In Fights in Tight Spaces, you’re that hero, a smartly dressed agent working for some James Bond-like organisation trying to take down some criminal organisations. Yoshida and fellow Final Fantasy team members Hiroshi Takai and Hiroshi Minagawa reminisced about their previous game that was “basically Bloodborne”, but before Bloodborne was even a thing. Three Hopes isn’t a simple retelling of Three Houses, nor does it work around the existing storyline. This time around, we’re playing as Shez, a former mercenary who becomes a student at Garreg Mach Monastery. Like before, which house you enrol in determines your storyline as you choose between Edelgard’s Black Eagles, Dimitri’s Blue Lions, and Claude’s Golden Deer. I’d recommend playing Three Houses first, but thankfully this experience doesn’t hinge upon it....
This challenge set begins with you opening a mission kit and placing a jammer outside the IO base in one match and all of the quests must be completed before the next round of legendary quests arrives next week. Completing this challenge will reward you with 30k XP, which will help you unlock more Battle Stars for the Season 7 battle pass. Completing your daily quests will now net you almost double the XP, from 51k up to 90k XP, while new and future character punchcards will award 150k XP instead of 80k XP. Shared quests will now give a smattering of XP as well as gold Bar currency, and Team Rumble has also had XP added to its quests as well. Weekly punchcards XP has been slightly reduced, meanwhile, to “lessen the setback of not completing them”....
