Every new expansion and season introduces more to the unlock and pursue, either through random world drops or elaborate quests. This page outlines every Exotic available in Destiny 2 and how to unlock them, from those in the latest update, through to those whose quests have been vaulted since release. On this page: Exotics can be sourced in a number of ways, including:
Decrypting Exotic Engrams Random rewards from Public Events, chests, Crucible matches and other activities Special vendors, such as Xur Completing specific quests and missions Season pass-exclusive Exotic unlocks Rare drops from solo Lost Sectors ‘Legacy’ Exotics from the Monument to the Lost Lights vault Eververse and decrypting Bright Engrams (for cosmetic Exotic items only, such as Emotes, Sparrows and Ghosts)
The most difficult and powerful Exotics will require you to unlock and complete specific quests, which in the past have involved many steps and in the case of one or two, elaborate ARG-style puzzles to solve. Additionally, with Destiny 2 adopting a seasonal model, some Exotics will be time-limited per season, whether by purchasing a season pass, or through a season-specific questline. Between this and destinations and activities being regularly vaulted, most Exotics no longer available from their original sources will be available in the Monument to the Lost Lights Vault, a terminal in the Tower where you can purchase lost Exotics. These, as well as the most currently available Exotics, are listed on this page. As well as the above, some Exotics can also be upgraded further with the use of Masterwork Catalysts. Here are Year 5’s additions in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent season, Season of the Seraph:
